Of course the gym can help you to get in shape for the sports happening beneath the sheets, but can sex itself help you to lose weight?  Sexual activity actually does burn a lot of calories!  And it can help increase the hormone DHEA which studies have shown can help you gain more muscle without dieting.  Here are some guidelines for ways that you can amp up your sexual fitness:

 

  • Kiss in unusual positions.  One of you lie on your back, while the other does the yogic "plank pose" or a push up over top of him, come down to kiss your partner and then push back up. (Push ups burn 171 calories in 30 minutes.)  This will more than double the calories that you burn during kissing.  For a less strenuous exercise, simply use your hands while kissing vigorously.  Massage his head, the back of his neck or his shoulders while you kiss. Giving a massage burns approximately 80 calories per hour.
 
  • Just dance!  Slow dancing can burn 103 calories in 30 minutes, so you can draw it out and make it part of your foreplay, while getting a great workout going.  And if you happen to have a pole to spin around on, that number can double!  Dress sexy to tease him.  The art of the strip is in the tease.  Here's a tip. Wear some great heels and something that makes you feel sexy.  Sit him in a chair.  Stand in front of him with your back to him.  Look over your shoulder into his eyes while you slowly spread your legs.  Place your thumbs in your pants or panties and very, very slowly squat while pulling them partially down.  Come back up and pull them up as you turn to face him.  Install a pole in your bedroom and you can really burn some calories!
 
  • Try new positions.  There are a lot of ways to burn more calories during sex.  Positions are one great way and there are lots of great positional aids like Liberator  to help.  Movement is most effective.  If you are on top, try moving your hips like a belly dancer; this feels great and gives you a work out.  Women can also try a position where you squat on top of him and then bounce up and down--I call this the Sumerian Squat in my book.  This is a great workout for your thighs and butt, and it can burn up to 207 calories in 30 minutes.
 
  • A new type of oral workout.  Guys, for an oral workout, do push ups over her in a 69 position.  If you are on top, you get the best workout.  When you come down, you get to lick each other's nether regions.  You can also do a little yoga; try plank position into downward facing dog, back into plank where you can lower down and do some oral stimulation.  Add 171 calories (30 Minutes) for the push ups and then 135 calories (30 minutes) for stretching and you are racking up some major fat burning. 
 

More important than burning calories or making it a workout, pay attention to your body, have fun and play!  Playing is the best workout because you enjoy it and will do it for a longer amount of time!  Try it, have more sex, get fit, and then have more sex!  It's formula for fun and success!
